Captain Jeff Van Remortel comes from a family lineage of Green Bay and Lake Michigan waterfowlers that stretches back nearly 80 years, and he knows the area and the 'wheres' and 'hows' of locating and decoying birds on these vast waters.
In the
2011 Wisconsin waterfowl season,
277 ducks and 8 geese representing 23 species of waterfowl were harvested, of which 17 species of mounter drakes were taken! Clients averaged 7.5 birds in hand and 12.7 shooting opportunities per outing!
In the 2010 Wisconsin waterfowl season, 209 birds representing 26 species of waterfowl were harvested on Green Bay and Lake Michigan hunts with an average of 12.5 shooting opportunities per trip!
During the 2009 season, clients averaged 4.5 birds bagged and around 1.5 boxes of shells fired per gun, per day. Birds harvested represented 18 different species.
In 2008, 10 out of 11 consecutive two-man duck trips resulted in limits (12 ducks), several of which included a limit geese (4 canadian geese) to boot. One trip in particular was over just 1.5 hours after shooting hours began and included the 4 goose (2 person) limit as well as the 12 duck (2 person) bag limit, of which 9 were drakes.
Over the years, he has collected a wealth of duck hunting knowledge over hundreds of miles of Wisconsin coastline that enables him to consistently put clients on good numbers of huntable birds, even down to the specific waterfowl species a client is looking to harvest.
